What is My Speaking Score?

Modified on Sun, 11 Jan at 3:09 AM

My Speaking Score is an automated TOEFL Speaking preparation and score prediction platform. It is designed for test takers who want clear, repeatable scoring and measurable progress on TOEFL Speaking tasks.

My Speaking Score licenses SpeechRater® from ETS and combines it with proprietary TOEFL-aligned tasks and analytics to support TOEFL Speaking practice and score interpretation.

The platform was founded in 2021 by John Healy and is used by students from around the world preparing for the TOEFL iBT Speaking section.

How does My Speaking Score work?

My Speaking Score provides TOEFL Speaking practice with automated scoring based on ETS assessment research.

When you record a response, the platform uses licensed SpeechRater scoring outputs together with task-level logic to generate:

  • a task score

  • category-level results aligned with TOEFL Speaking expectations

  • progress tracking across repeated practice

All scoring is generated automatically. There are no human raters involved.

The goal is not generic AI feedback, but consistent, interpretable practice scoring that helps test takers understand where they stand and what to focus on next.

Why choose My Speaking Score?

My Speaking Score is built exclusively for TOEFL Speaking. We treat speaking as a test skill that can be measured, practiced, and improved through structured feedback and repetition.

The platform is designed for serious test takers who want:

  • automated, consistent scoring

  • TOEFL-aligned task formats

  • clear interpretation of results

  • confidence before test day

Our focus is narrow by design. We do one thing: help you understand and improve your TOEFL Speaking performance.

How we prefer to communicate with you

Email is our primary method of communication.

We send regular emails that include:

Who we are

My Speaking Score is led by founder John Healy and a small team focused entirely on TOEFL Speaking preparation.

We are not a general English platform. We do not cover every test. We do not offer broad language courses.

Our work is centered on one goal: helping test takers perform better on TOEFL Speaking.
